Our newly equipped dermatologist and vein practice is located at Kaufingerstraße 17  (just opposite the traditional department store Hirmer), right in the city centre of Munich, only a few steps away from Stachus and Marienplatz. Our 400 square metre medical practice for skin and veins is situated on the third floor (there is a lift!). From the waiting room there is an impressive view of of the pedestrian zone and the twin towers of Frauenkirche (Church of our Lady).

Regular and thorough skin cancer screenings are very important as the incidence of white and black skin cancer continues to increase. Hardly any preventive medical check-up can be so easily integrated into everyday life as skin cancer screening. In a half-hour appointment, we will examine your skin and your moles using the latest technology. Conspicuous skin changes can be digitized using a reflected light microscope and further classified using artificial intelligence.

In this way, unnecessary operations are avoided and your individual risk profile for white and black skin cancer is determined. As a rule, these preventive examinations should be carried out at annual intervals. In individual cases, the examination intervals can be narrower. We see varicose veins and spider veins on many legs. Women and men are equally affected. These visible changes, but also inflammation of the veins (phlebitis) and vein occlusions (thrombosis), belong to the field of phlebology.

Phlebology has been Dr. Kensy’s and Dr. Peeken’s focus for many years. An initial diagnosis and discussion of your venous disease will take place in the vein consultation clinic. With over 1000 minimally invasive interventions per year Dr. Kensy and Dr. Peeken are also the right contact for difficult questions, second opinions or recurrence interventions after previous operations.

After a detailed half-an-hour preliminary talk in our vein consultation clinic, a painless medical examination of your deep and superficial vein system takes place. In particular, a colour-coded doppler and duplex sonography (ultrasound) as well as a light reflexion rheography are carried out (the latter is a measuring method to check the vein function by means of a sensor attached from the outside). In this way it is possible to identify a disease precisely: vessel conclusion (thrombosis), inflammation of the veins (phlebitis), vein weakness (venous insufficiency) or varicose veins (varicosis).

Whether these visible reddish-blue, small veins appear on lower and upper thighs, they – in most case – disturb our aesthetic sensitivity. They are small, superficial, dilated vessels, but they are not burst. Even if such spider veins appear, they do not necessarily mean vein weakness or the beginning development of varicose veins.

If cosmetic correction is desired, spider veins can be treated and removed by applying micro foam (foam sclerotherapy). That means that foamed alcohol which irritates the vascular walls is injected into the vessels by means of the finest of needles. As a result, an inflammation develops and the vascular walls stick together so that they are no longer supplied and are no longer visible. This method of removing spider veins has been standard in our practice for many years. We achieve better and more sustainable results than with a spider vein laser.

Only on the day of treatment you should avoid sports activities such as hot baths, sauna, etc. It is proven that compression therapy with bandages or stockings does not necessarily lead to better results and is no longer needed nowadays.

Using lasers has become an integral part of everyday life in our practice. With the help of six different laser systems we can treat a large number of skin changes in an effective, gentle and almost painless way. Whether fine facial veins, haemangioma (bloody sponges), seborrhoic keratodermas (age warts) or excessive hair growth in the bikini line – the range of laser treatments is large and a wonderful source of enrichment for you and for us.

In order to make the treatments as comfortable as possible they are carried out under local anesthesia or by applying cooling. We use laser systems which are produced by reputable companies and are optically checked with regard to application, function and safety.

Time for yourself. That’s what we offer you in our department for medical cosmetics. In certain cases, your skin needs support by expert hands. Manual cleansings, gentle massages, micro dermabrasion, fruit acid treatments – all these applications can support and shorten the healing process. This, in particular, applies for inflammatory skin diseases such as acne. If scars have remained on your skin, micro needling treatment completes our offer.

Your feet will not be neglected either in our practice. If you suffer from nail fungus, corns or disturbing callus formations you can, after prior consultation, arrange a date for medical foot care in our dermatology hours.

It is regularity that counts – whether with acne or nail fungus, for long-lasting skin health we recommend treatments at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks.

In our consultation hours for classic dermatology, we treat typical skin diseases, which can be divided into infectious and non-infectious dermatoses.

Non-infectious skin diseases are e.g. eczema, neurodermatitis and psoriasis, acne of youth and late acne (rosacea), but also rashes (exanthema), hair loss and hives. Infectious dermatoses include all diseases of the skin and nails that are caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi or parasites. These include e.g. herpes infections, erysipelas, scabies as well as nail and skin fungal infections.

After a detailed diagnosis and explanation, we plan together with you individual therapies that can be integrated into everyday life. Fortunately, there are now many reliably effective, well-researched and established treatment options, so that existing symptoms can usually be quickly alleviated and skin and nails can be healed in the best case.

Permanently itching, burning or scaly skin diseases lead to severe stress in everyday life and significantly reduce the quality of life. Classical representatives of these chronic inflammatory skin diseases are neurodermatitis (atopic eczema) and psoriasis.
